ANSWER/AUDIT

What to buy instead of this, and when

There are four sensible ways to deal with being invisible in AI answers. Three of them are not me. Here is the honest version, because you will work it out anyway and I would rather you heard it here.

The audit is worth buying when you do not yet know why you are absent. Once you know why, a monitoring tool or an agency is usually the better spend.

Side by side

OptionWhat you actually getCost
Ask ChatGPT yourself One answer from one session. Personalised and non-deterministic, so it is a data point rather than a baseline. Free
Monitoring tool A recurring dashboard of mentions and sentiment. Strong at tracking. Weak at explaining why you are absent or what to change. $39–$500/mo
GEO agency Strategy plus execution over months: content, schema, digital PR, citation building. The right answer at scale. $5,000–$15,000/mo
Traditional SEO agency Rankings, backlinks, technical SEO. Overlaps with AI visibility but optimises a different mechanism. $2,000–$10,000/mo
This audit A one-off measured baseline across five buyer intents, the reasons behind it, and a prioritised fix list you can execute in-house. $297 once

Which one is right for you

Ask the assistants yourself

Buy this if: you just want a rough signal

Genuinely do this before paying anyone. Ask three buying questions in your category and see whether you are named. If you are named every time, stop here and spend the money elsewhere. The catch is that one session tells you almost nothing reliable: answers vary by user, history and time, so an encouraging result can be luck and a discouraging one can be noise.

An AI visibility monitoring tool

Buy this if: you already know what to fix

Tools like these track mentions across assistants over time and chart movement. They are the correct purchase once you have a diagnosis and want to watch a number move. What they generally do not give you is the causal layer — which of your pages a model cannot parse, which competitor's blog post is authoring your category's answer, and which of the five buyer intents you are missing. A dashboard showing 12% presence does not tell you what to do on Monday.

A GEO or AI-visibility agency

Buy this if: it is a company priority with budget behind it

If AI visibility is a named objective this quarter and you have five figures a month, hire an agency. They will do the content, the digital PR and the citation building, which is real work I am not offering. The audit is not a substitute for that programme — it is the thing worth doing before you commission one, so you can brief it properly and judge whether it worked.

This audit

Buy this if: you do not yet know why you are absent

One measurement, one report, $297, delivered in 72 hours. You get the baseline, the reasons, and a fix list your own team can execute without me. You also get the query set, so you can re-run everything I did and check my work. It is deliberately a one-off: if the answer turns out to be "you are fine", you have bought certainty cheaply, and I will tell you so rather than invent a problem.

Where the audit is genuinely the wrong call

If you are pre-product-market-fit and nobody is searching your category yet, there is nothing to be visible in — fix demand first. If you sell entirely through outbound or partnerships and buyers never research you independently, this measures something that does not affect your pipeline. And if you already have a GEO agency, they should be producing this themselves; ask them for it before paying me.

Still unsure

Send your site and your top three competitors to aianytime07@gmail.com and I will run the first few queries and send back what comes out — free, no call, and you keep it whether or not you buy anything. If it shows you are already well covered, I will say so.
